Play as Chuk – a small, but plucky alien – and enter the Grand Galactic Fighting Tournament to get back your planet's stolen moon!

The opponents Chuk is going to face are much stronger than him, so he'll have to discover their weaknesses and use his wits and colour-changing ability to their fullest in order to win.

Chuk and the Arena aims to recreate, in text format, the gameplay feel of classic point-and-click adventures. Explore a large spaceship, collect, use and combine items, and talk with a cast of quirky NPCs to puzzle your way through the tournament in this lighthearted space opera!

The game placed 3rd in the 2019 IFComp.

Estimated playtime: 2 hours

I notice that on tall screens, the text spills off the bottom and isn't scrollable, at least with Chromium. I zoom out, but on some of the longer screens it's pretty hard to read. I think I've seen that on other Twine games. If there were a way to enable scrolling that would be helpful.

Edit:

I finally got to a screen that was too small to read zoomed out (steve escape), and resorted to devtools.

html body #story { height: 100%; }
#story { overflow-y: scroll; }

Only this doesn't include the "Continue" link that appears on some screens. For that I had to zoom out.

I was wondering if the issue might have to do with itch's iframe embedding method, so I tested with the copy you posted to ifarchive and sure enough, scrolling works fine there.

Hi, thanks for letting me know about this. I was sure I had "enabled scrollbars" activated in itch's settings, but I didn't for this one project. It's fixed now.

And I'm glad you had fun with the game!

I'm playing Chuk and the Arena after having stumbled on 4x4 Archipelago a few days ago. So good!

Agat, thank you for sharing your talent for narrative, and for the careful polish you put into all the odd little corners of your games. ❤️
